The teachers of Marshall Simonds Middle School were all sent a technology survey. They were asked a series of questions. Their answers were similar for some questions, and different for others.
Some of the things that I learned was that students and teachers in all of the different grades use their iPads for different things. Sixth graders learn different curriculum than seventh and eighth graders. They have to use their iPads for different things. The teachers have to use their iPads for things like Airplay, Classroom, and even Garage Band!
We have put together some reviews for the questions. The first question was a graph: How often do you use your iPad in class? That was a graph question. About 46% of the teachers use it often, 15% of the teachers use it sometimes, 3%( one teacher ) doesn't ever use it, and about 36% of the teachers use it all of the time.
The next question was What are the negatives about letting students use their iPads? The main reasons were distraction, using it when not allowed to, and switching from game to what you're actually supposed to be doing before getting caught.
The next question was another graph. The question was: Do You Use Google Classroom? Eleven people or 42.3% said yes, eleven people or 42.3% said no, and four people or 15.4% said sometimes.
The next graph had the question: Do You Use Airplay To Project Your iPad? Twelve people or 46.2% said yes, nine people or 34.6% said no, and 5 people or 19.2% said sometimes.
The next graph had the question of : How often in class do you have to take away students iPads due to misbehaving? One person or 3.8% said everyday, two people or 7.7% said all the time, one person or 3.8% said usually, nineteen people or 73.1% said sometimes, and three people or 11.5% said never.
The next question was: What are the positives about letting students use their iPads? The main reasons were that it encourages students to excel and take pride in their work, it’s good for math, and it engages the students.
The next question was: What is your favorite app? The teachers favorite apps are BuzzMath, Notability, Google Classroom, and Kahoot.
The next question was: What app do you use the most? The most common responses were Drive, Notability, Google Classroom, iBooks, and Garageband.
The next question was: Do you like paper or ipads better? 18 people said they prefer iPads and 20 people said that they prefer paper. This is also including the people who said they like both.
The last question was : What do you do when you sees a student using their ipad inappropriately? Most of them said they take it away for a certain amount of time, but others said they sometimes give warnings or ask them to stop.
